I’ve known about the Wayback Machine for a while, but for some reason, I never visited the site – until today. It was such a strange feeling seeing what Bloodforge looked like back in 2001, and being able to see how it progressed over the years (the site was up since 1999 actually, but there is no record of that in the archive).

I’ve actually pulled up some items from the archive. One of those is the logo that you can see at the top-left of the page.

I also can’t believe I forgot about… the splash page for Bloodforge in 2003! Click on the image below and experience the excitement! (edit: this was flash, and until I have converted it to MP4, you’ll need to visit the wayback machine to view the animation).

(By the way, I do realize that the skip and enter buttons don’t work anymore – maybe I’ll fix it some day )

I’m sure there’s plenty of other items that I completely forgot about. Some of the items I do remember, however, are a flash based menu that dynamically populated from an XML file on the server (my first Flash app). Also, there was a message board system that I wrote from scratch in ASP – it was all done in Notepad too. I still can’t believe that thing worked!
